IsraelBerries.com is the central website for everything to do with producing raspberries and blueberries in Israel. The goal of the site is to be a resource for advancing this fast developing field.
IsraelBerries.com is run by Mop Hahar Hamerkazi – Agricultural Research and Development, Central Mountain Region of Israel. We are the only organization in Israel providing public research and extension services about berries to all Israeli farmers.
Mop Hahar operates a research and demonstration site with raspberry and blueberry production in the Gva'ot Forest in Gush Etzion, near Jerusalem, Israel. The site allows farmers, both new and experienced, to visit and see the latest intensive production methods. Several times a year we offer open-field days and seminars on the latest methods for producing quality raspberries and blueberries.
Mop Hahar runs field trials using new varieties of raspberries and blueberries to find the best selections to use in Israel's hot, arid climate. We are now testing varieties from Italy and the University of Georgia, USA.
The Israeli consumer has a growing demand for healthy, quality raspberries and blueberries. Berry production in Israel has great potential to develop over the next few years and provide a livelihood for Israeli farmers. We at Mop Hahar will strive to provide the research and extension services needed to advance this goal.
Mop Hahar welcomes international cooperation in all fields of berry production. We can provide specialized information on adapting berry production to hot, dry countries.
